Wishes do come true!

Well we got a call on Feb 6th saying that Caleb was chosen to have a wish granted from the Make A Wish foundation! I couldn't believe it! This is such an answer to prayers! We have been wanting to go to Disney World for a long time! And now we get to go!

So Caleb's wish granter came to visit and asked Caleb all about his wish! He told her he wants to meet Goofy and ride the Tower of Terror!

So May 9-15th we will be in Orlando!!!! This will be the 1st time the kids have flown on a plane! They are so excited!
We are counting down the days!!
I made them countdown calendars...we had 75 days to start with...now we are down to 51!!!
I am not sure who is the most excited!! (I think it is me...but don't tell anyone!!)

Getting ready to walk!

Well I have been a very bad blogger! Sorry!
Caleb was chosen as a team leader for the MDA Stride and Ride on January 31st.
So we have been raising money for the MDA. Our friends and family have been very generous! And then the schools had a $1 to be out of dress code day and raised over $1100.
We are making signs to show support for Caleb! The youth group is going as well as many friends and family members! It is so awesome to see the love and support of our friends!
Not sure how we would survive without them!

Emilee is growing into a beautiful young lady before our very eyes! She has her 1st school dance in February!

Caleb is doing well! If we could just get him to quit talking in class! He is excited about the walk next Saturday!

Aubree started taking dance class in January. She loves it! She will be the star of the show at the recital! We got our cast off this month! Thanks goodness! That thing was a real pain!

Tom was ordained as a deacon on the 4th...and Caleb was baptized! I was a proud momma and wife!

I will try and update more frequently!

My tough little man!!

Well Caleb had his muscle biopsy on October 1st....he is such a trooper! He was so strong...not a tear!
They cut a 2 1/2 inch incision into his upper thigh 2 " deep. OUCH!
He didn't even want any pain meds after!
They finally called me on Friday Oct. 10th @ 1 :40 to tell me they had the results in and I would have to come in to get them @ 3:30 on Mon. Oct 13th. That was the longest weekend of my life!!

The Dr came in and told us that Caleb is a "medical mystery". His blood results and physical exam point to Congenital Myopathy (which means born with muscle weakness...the mild form of MD we were hoping for) which is non-progressive. BUT...the muscle biopsy showed muscle deterioration which indicates a progressive form of MD...which is worse news. Since the 2 didn't "match" they want to take another muscle biopsy next summer to get more conclusive information. This time from his arm.

I was so bummed....I wanted answers...we have waited 8 years for an answer!!
But on the bright side...we didn't get bad news!!!
So we are trying to go with the "no news is good news" attitude!
Please keep sweet Caleb in your prayers!

Long time no post!

Well I have been crazy busy since school started!

Emilee is loving Middle school...and youth group at church! I think she had finally come out of her shell. And she is really blossoming!

Caleb loves 2nd grade. He has been going through a lot lately! We recently got diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. He got leg braces last week to strengthen his ankles. He hasn't complained yet about having to wear them....even at night!
He is a real trooper! We are about to have a muscle biopsy to determine the type of MD he has...there are 40 + different kinds!
Keep him in your prayers!

And Aubree...well what can I sat about her...she is a stinker as always!
She thinks she is about 14!
She wants to be a cheerleader!

Oh and we added a new member to our family...Harley...a 14 week old yorkie-poo. He is adorable and sooo much fun!

Here are a few recent pictures...

Swim little fish!

Well this has been an exciting week for Aubree! She took swim lessons! Now mind you this is her first year to take lessons....and she is SWIMMING! I am so proud of her!
She has No FEAR of the water...so I shouldn't be so shocked...but I can't get over it!
She absolutely loved Mr. Craig...and especially his cool slide!
The second day he attempted to teach her the back stroke....to a 3 year old! ha ha!
But she is like a turtle ..... she doesn't like to be on her back!
He was so impressed with her! He just kept saying how amazing she was...swimming at age 3!
All I can say is she was born a fish!

Pine Cove Weekend

Well Caleb and I are back from the Mother/Son conference at Pine Cove. We had an awesome time. The weather was BEAUTIFUL(a little chilly though). The food was GREAT! And the fellowship was AWESOME!
But with all those great things..I was a little sad! All the walking and activities just pointed out how weak Caleb truly is. He had trouble keeping up with the other boys, he fell at least 3 times a day and couldn't do most of the activities! It just broke my heart!
(For those of you who don't know Caleb's whole story...short version...he was born with both hips dislocated...was in different braces for 11 months and has VERY low muscle tone, which=weak!)

I am really looking forward to May 2oth to our new neuromuscular Dr appointment. Maybe we can get some answers and some help!

He knows his limitations...and I think that is what makes me so sad! But he is a brave and sweet little boy! He did enjoy ping pong, and miniature golf! As well as swimming (I know I am a bad mommy...it was WAY too cold to swim...but how can you say "no" to all that begging??)

I did learn as a mom of a boy...that all boys want to be warriors...and that's OK..let them play guns and sword fight!

The April fools day cow adventure!

So it was April 1st (April fools day) and Emilee and I were working on some lovely TAKS math homework (my absolute fav!!) and Caleb came running in the house yelling "cow, cow...and I'm not April foolin!" I asked him where...and he said..."over there" pointing towards an open field where there are cows. Now I am thinking, we have lived here for almost 8 years..please tell me this is not the first time my dear son has seen a cow over there!
I said "yes, there are cows over there behind that fence"..he says "NO! this cow isn't behind a fence" and so I proceed to argue with him about how I am SURE the cow he saw WAS behind a fence....now go outside so your sister can concentrate on her homework!

Well about 3 minutes late he comes running in again yelling "cow , cow, come see".
So I grab Aubree and run outside (barefoot mind you) to see what he is talking about.
I DO NOT see any cow...so we walk to the end of our block and look around the corner.
Low and behold there stands a HUGE black bull! He starts running full speed directly towards
us and Caleb takes off running and screaming like a little girl. I decided running was a bad idea, so I decide to just stand still....holding onto Aubree, preparing to be plowed over!
He keeps running until he gets right at us and turns at the last minute....and runs back to his field.

Caleb was yelling "I told you I saw a cow....I wasn't lying mom..I was truing! I was truing!"

SO needless to say that was an exciting adventure!

Oh and Aubree...she was so excited! Because she wanted to "ride that cow mommy!!"
